Rocky Anderson: Say “NO” To The Keystone Pipeline Again
Today the Senate will vote to subvert the President’s authority and approve the controversial Keystone Pipeline.
“The pipeline comes from the oil sands in Canada. Heavy tar sands increase the amount and the speed of carbon emissions in the environment,” says Presidential candidate Rocky Anderson. “Tar sands produce about three times more polluting carbons than regular oil.”
Anderson, the former Mayor of Salt Lake City and a candidate for the Presidency on the Justice Party ticket, has a long record of fighting for environmental issues and taking a lead on climate protection and energy independence.
“Big oil and its supporters are lying about the benefits of this project and underestimating the costs. The only ones who will benefit are the big oil companies. One spill from this proposed pipeline could inflict irrevocable damage to drinking water and farmlands in the Midwest. We cannot ignore the Deepwater Horizon oil spill of 2010. These tragic events are not only possible, they are inevitable.”
Anderson says Americans must move quickly to contact their Senators so this legislation is not slipped through unnoticed.
“To approve the Keystone Pipeline is to encourage the transfer and use of dirty fuel from oil sands and sabotages our commitment to a clean energy economy.”
